Yuga Labs Aims High with Launch of ApeCoin & Rumors of MetaRPG

The popular blockchain game CryptoKitties has inspired a new trend in the world of gaming – collectible, digital assets known as Non-Fungible Tokens or NFTs. ApeCoin is one of the first games to marry this technology with gameplay.

Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, is ready to take things to the next level. ApeCoin, the company’s native governance token, has been formally launched. It will be used to expand BAYC’s Web3 and gaming offerings.

The ApeCoin DAO owns and operates ApeCoin, with 62 percent of the 1 billion supply allotted to the ApeCoin community and 15% of the overall supply accessible for BAYC NFT holders to claim. ApeCoin will also be available for purchase on major cryptocurrency exchanges.

A leaked deck showed plans for an impending exclusive land sale in addition to the introduction of ApeCoin. According to the deck, Yuga Labs plans to grow its massive empire by creating a customised metaverse and selling 200k unique land plots to interested parties. They want to generate an additional $356 million in sales via this campaign to help finance the project.

The strategy stated in the leaked card, however, was refuted by the co-founders of BAYC, who said they had never seen it before and that it was obsolete. On Discord, the team responded directly to the leaked deck, as seen below.

With the help of Animoca Brands, the card also indicates ambitions to expand the MetaRPG world. Users may create avatars using NFTs they possess or create one from scratch in this game-focused universe. Then run riot across the digitalized meadows, taking part in a variety of interactive games.

We may not know what is real or not, but one thing is certain: great things are coming to the NFT sector!
