The rise of NFTs have seen a number of projects led by women- many who are established names in the industry. We take a look at some of these female leaders and their impact on the crypto-space, examining how they’re using this new technology to accomplish what had previously been impossible with other mediums
The “world of women nft” is a project that allows users to search for top female-led projects. The project has been going on since 2017, and has already brought in over 1 million dollars in revenue.
It’s Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on all the contributions women have made to society while also looking forward to what’s to come. Despite the fact that bitcoin seems to be a male-dominated industry, many women contribute to Web 3. What better way to commemorate the occasion than to look at a few NFT projects managed by women that are worth checking out.
NFT #1 Women and Weapons
Sara Baumann, a.k.a. “Sparky,” produced the NFT collection Women and Weapons. Baumann is a multimedia artist from Dallas, Texas, who is Iranian-American. She began her career as an occupational therapist before deciding to sell paintings on the side while pursuing her Master’s degree. Baumann said in an interview that she started painting a series as a stress relief while studying on her degree, and her husband persuaded her to mint them as NFTs.
Three of her NFTs were purchased by Gary Vaynerchuck, and the rest were sold out in under a minute. She extended the series after that fatal day, and today 5% of all Primary and Secondary revenues go to the Malala Fund Charity. The Malala Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that women and girls have equal access to education.
#2 Bossy Girls
Lisa Mayer created the NFT series Boss Beauties. Mayer is the founder and CEO of My Social Canvas, a non-profit organization that supports young women. The Boss Beauties NFT collection is a 10,000-piece collection inspired by the young women Mayer mentored. “Imagine a series of digital photos to depict the strong women they wish to see and be in the world,” the girls were told.
The girls assisted Mayer in developing a variety of different, successful female characters after making vision boards. The NFT collection Boss Beauties was the first to be presented on the New York Stock Exchange.
Women’s Tribe #3
Women Tribe is an NFT collection created by Izzy, a 22-year-old Portuguese female who creates both music and art. In late 2019, Izzy was diagnosed with a cardiac problem and was unable to return to work. She jumped straight in after learning about crypto and NFTs.
From a collection of approximately 900 hand-drawn characteristics, the Women Tribe NFT series was constructed mechanically. A vibrant female persona appears in each artwork. The collection includes 10,000 NFTs, 10 of which are one-of-a-kind 1/1 pieces with music tracks. OutRight International’s EmpowHER program receives 5% of the project’s sales income, and the initiative wants to build a scholarship program that would provide 5 ETH to a fortunate applicant.
#4 Pixies, wow
Wow Pixies is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that sells pixelated NFTs in order to purchase valued NFTs produced by female producers. Each Pixie NFT counts for one vote, and the community votes on which NFTs to acquire. Each Pixie NFT counts as one vote in the community’s decision on which NFTs to purchase. The initiative intends to contribute 5 ETH to MMIW USA and 5 ETH to MMIW Canada after all of the NFTs have been sold. MMIW assists relatives of murder victims in processing their sorrow and supports in the search for missing women.
The “non fungible token art” is a project that has been gaining popularity in the cryptocurrency world. The project is lead by top female artists and designers.
