Have you ever wondered how much the world’s most valuable NFT was? No longer be perplexed!

As we go down the top 5 all-time sales, we’ll be treated to some ground-breaking, rip-roaring NFT action.

The Ascension of NFTs

The industry of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) is booming. NFTs are changing the way we see the world because of their variety and ownership. Last year, the introduction of Web3 and a slew of decentralized blockchains fueled the growth of NFTs.

In fact, the acronym ‘NFT’ was named Collin’s Dictionary’s Word of the Year for 2021, and it’s still gaining traction.

NFTs have remained popular because they offer you control over something really personal – whether it’s your identity, your community, or your membership. This ownership can’t be taken away from you since it’s written in a non-modifiable underlying code. It is only yours to use, love, sell, and even exchange.

Indeed, trading volumes in 2022 show no indications of diminishing as the NFT phenomena continues to grow.

In the real world, NFTs

Recently, NFTs have been raising money for Ukraine’s cause against Russia, including a ‘CryptoPunk’ donation that is reportedly worth around $200,000. This illustrates the growing influence of In the real world, NFTs and how they’re impacting people’s lives. Incidentally, the most expensive CryptoPunk NFT ever sold features later in this article!

One of the keys to The Ascension of NFTs has been the astounding sums of money spent on purchasing them. Demand for bespoke NFT collections has consistently driven up the value of NFTs. Equally, influential communities with large amounts of crypto to invest have been playing their part in the NFT boom.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club, which is leading a Web3 revolution, is the most influential NFT community.

Their Bored Ape collection went on to sell like hotcakes, with the most expensive Bored Ape NFT (at the time of writing) fetching $2.9 million. BAYC just launched its own cryptocurrency, “Ape Coin,” and their parent firm, Yuga Labs, recently acquired the I.P. for CryptoPunk, demonstrating the NFT community’s aspirations.

NFTs are a whole new world.

The most costly NFTs reflect several growing subcultures and are game-changing purchases. Simply said, these NFTs shocked the globe and caused even the most cynical of NFT denialists to take NFTs seriously.

What started out as a Profile Picture (PFP) craze, highlighted by the first-ever NFT collection ‘Cryptopunks,’ has evolved into something considerably more significant.

Your NFTs might, in fact, unlock a variety of doors in both the real and virtual worlds.

If you’re a member of a DAO, they could grant you a vote, or admission to an exclusive party or meet-up, or participation in a community. These are only a few examples of real-world NFT applications, and the list is growing all the time.

Let us now celebrate the top five NFT purchases of all time. We present to you, ladies and gentlemen, the most costly NFTs ever sold!

1. ‘The Merge,’ directed by Pak, grossed $91.8 million.

The Merge, a work by anonymous digital artist Pak, sold for $91.8 million on Nifty Gateway, with 28,983 collectors purchasing 312,686 total units of mass.

The artwork’s design is based on the smart contract, which had a special’merge’ feature that enabled purchasers to buy mass parts and combine them to build a larger mass.

Each unit cost $575, with a price rise of $25 every six hours. The tokens sold for a total of $91.8 million at the conclusion of the auction, making it the world’s most valuable NFT!

Mike Winkleman, aka Beeple, sold this life-changing work of art for $69 million at Christie’s auction in October 2021.

This work has been lauded as “the next chapter in art history,” and Beeple has been dubbed “one of the most valuable living painters.”

This was the first time a major auction house has ever auctioned a wholly digital work of art, and it represented 5000 pieces of Beeple’s work in collage form. “Everydays…” was part of a 14-year effort in which he created a new work of art every day.

3. Clock ($52.7 million)

Isn’t it incredible that this is one of the most costly works of digital art ever created?

Well, each of the world’s most valuable NFTs stands for something important, and “Clock” is no exception! ‘Clock,’ a collaboration between the aforementioned artist Pak and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, marks the days Assange has been imprisoned.

Assange is a strong symbol who personifies something that many people appreciate highly across the globe. This NFT was used to gather donations for Assange’s legal defense and was eventually acquired by AssangeDAO, a group of over 10,000 individuals who pooled their monies to buy the NFT and support Assange.

HUMAN ONE by Beeple — $28.985 million

Mike Winkleman’s follow-up to his “Everydays…” masterwork, Human One, is yet another earth-shattering work of art.

“The new sculpture is a generative work of art, a constantly changing hybrid physical and digital artwork, which the artist plans to add to and enhance creatively throughout the duration of his lifetime,” according to Christie’s.

Beeple clearly intended to create something genuinely unique with Human One, and we can fairly say that he succeeded with the kinetic video sculpture — four video displays (16k resolution), polished aluminum alloy, mahogany wood frame, twin media servers; limitless video, and matching dynamic NFT –
