We’ve heard accounts of deaths, injuries, and separated families in recent weeks, as well as damage to houses and other infrastructure around the nation.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, more than two million people have fled the nation, with tens of thousands more displaced inside Ukraine.

The humanitarian situation is becoming more dire as a result of the protracted battle, with hundreds of thousands of people going without food, water, heat, or medical treatment.

The Red Cross is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), which brings together 15 member organisations with expertise in humanitarian relief and disaster response.

The DEC makes pleas at times of great hardship, such as the current situation in Ukraine.

Ground Operations: The Most Up-to-Date Information

Around 4,000 Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers are working to reach as many people as possible, having distributed 90,000 food and hygiene packs and assisting those with impairments in their evacuation. Along with local officials and police, volunteers were able to assist with the evacuation of residents in Irpin and its neighboring districts on Sunday, March 6th.

Around 7,000 individuals seeking refuge at metro stations have received food, warm clothes, and other help from the Ukrainian Red Cross. They also provide first aid and have trained over 12,000 individuals in first aid at metro stations and bomb shelters.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is working to distribute water and rebuild water infrastructure in places where water supplies have been affected, particularly in the east. Water stations have been established, and water has been distributed to communities and hospitals.

VeVe and Ron English have teamed together on two digital collectable drops that will aid Ukraine refugees.

Guernica 2022 is a grade school in Guernica, Spain. Ron English is well-known for his many versions of Pablo Picasso’s Guernica, having made over a hundred pieces that use the original to convey the dynamics of unending cycles of devastation and the gratuitous brutality of contemporary conflict.

The action takes set at a schoolyard carnival, with children playing both the bomber pilot and the scared townspeople in English’s “Grade School Guernica 2022.” The picture, which is overlaid with the colors of the Ukrainian flag, begs us not to turn our gaze away from the genuine victims of all wars: children.

We’ll keep looking for new ways to help with the relief efforts, but for now, we’d like to express our gratitude to Ron for these incredible pieces, as well as the Red Cross for their contributions and humanitarian efforts on the ground, as we all work together to find a peaceful solution for Ukraine and its people.
