NWSL Club ‘Angel City’ Launch NFTs to Celebrate its Founding

The National Women’s Soccer League team, Angel City FC has launched its own cryptocurrency to help fund the club and raise awareness of women in sport. The club has released a limited number of digital tokens that can be used on the NFT platform “DotCom,” which is accessible through smart contract technology.
The first season will take place this summer with games taking place at various locations throughout Los Angeles County including USC and UCLA stadiums, as well as Stubhub Center; it also plans to play matches in Canada before returning home for MLS All-Star game weekend during August 2019.

The “angel city fc nft” is a NFT that was created to celebrate the founding of Angel City FC. It was created by using the “NFTs Crypto” and can be bought, sold, or traded on the NWSL Club’s marketplace.

Angel City Football Team (ACFC), LA’s newest professional football (or soccer) club, is introducing an NFT collection in collaboration with Crypto.com. The ‘ACFC First Fan Pass Collection,’ as its name implies, is a commemoration of the club’s inaugural match, which took place on April 29th.

Fans must either be a current user of the Crypto.com NFT marketplace or join up for the platform during the unique sign up window to be eligible for one of the free and commemorative NFTs. Fans will be able to choose between receiving a ‘Kickoff’ or a ‘Sol Rosa Kickoff’ NFT after gaining eligibility, with the former being a digital, stylised soccer ball with the ACFC crest floating within it, and the latter being a duplicate of the former but with a washed over, Sol Rosa-colored finish.

From the day of the club’s first match until 9 p.m. PST on May 5th, NFTs will be issued on Crypto.com. There will be 22 Sol Rosa Kickoff NFTs available, which will be randomly distributed to 22 fortunate fans, with all other participants receiving a Kickoff NFT.

The Sol Rosa Kickoff NFT series has a limited quantity of 22 since this number honors many aspects of the club, including its year of foundation, home stadium capacity (in thousands), and Player 22 Future Program. The initiative offers financial assistance to retiring National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) players who are beginning new careers in the sport. In light of this, ACFC will donate to the program’s fund at the end of the NFT redemption period, in proportion to the amount of NFTs claimed.

After the NFT redemption period has ended, the team will contact holders personally to provide access to special digital products as well as invites to virtual and actual events during the inaugural competitive season.

The events might be part of ACFC and Crypto.com’s multiyear partnership, which includes live and virtual events aimed at educating the public about Web3, cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and other blockchain-related activities.

ACFC entered the professional sports world as the 11th member of the NWSL in the United States. With the United States arguably being the greatest footballing nation in the world (in terms of women’s football), the club already has a number of high-achieving members, including Natalie Portman, co-founder and Academy Award-winning actress, Kara Nortman, media and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman, and Alexis Ohanian, founder of Seven Seven Six and former Executive Chair of Reddit.

With football at the forefront of the club’s priorities, former England Women’s National Team striker Eniola Aluko will serve as Sporting Director, while experienced manager Freya Coombe will serve as the team’s Head Coach.
