Introducing YGG’s India-focused SubDAO, IndiGG

YGG is a self-sustaining, autonomous organization that exists to promote and strengthen the gaming community in India. Our mission is to create an ecosystem where game developers can thrive with 100% of their revenue coming from games created for Indian audiences.

YGG’s India-focused SubDAO, IndiGG will be the first decentralized autonomous organization to operate in India. It is a DAO that will allow users to invest in their community and receive dividends from the profits.

IndiGG is a subsidiary of Yield Guild Games (YGG) and is backed by Polygon Studios. Its primary purpose as a regional subDAO is to increase play-to-earn options in India, with the goal of bringing enthusiastic Indian gamers into the Metaverse and maximizing their earning potential.

Today, India has over 430 million active gamers, the majority of them play mobile games such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), Free Fire, and Call of Duty: Mobile. India has the world’s largest gaming talent pool, with a population of over 1.38 billion people, and IndiGG is looking to onboard and involve members of this community who are still unaware of the play-to-earn gaming model, which rewards players for the value they bring to budding game economies and has a positive impact on many people’s lives.

“We’re going town to town, village to village, city to city, and onboarding communities to Web3 to bring play-to-earn and crypto to broad acceptance as guilds,” said Gabby Dizon, co-founder of Yield Guild Games. “SubDAOs like IndiGG enable us to keep grassroots adoption going.”

IndiGG has already made considerable progress in its objective to empower these communities by working with numerous NFT games that may serve as a doorway for these communities to learn about crypto and DeFi. Over 4,400 passionate and helpful people contribute to the success of the subDAO on the IndiGG Discord server.

IndiGG has already started recruiting 456 students, running educational bootcamps, hosting different community competitions for Axie Infinity scholars, and engaging in other community events like as emoji contests and AMAs with blockchain gaming builders and founders.

Sequoia Capital India, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Animoca Brands, Jump Capital, Variant Fund, Dune Ventures, Griffin Gaming Partners, Transcend Fund, Play Ventures, Backed, Sfermion, Infinity Ventures Crypto, YGG SEA, Emfarsis, and others were among the investors in IndiGG’s US$6 million funding round. YGG also led a US$1 million pre-seed investment.

Along with this, many angel investors, including Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Brevan Howard Asset Management co-founder Alan Howard, and executives from the Indian gaming and entertainment industries like Hungama, Nazara, Winzo, Hindustan Talkies, and Mobile Premier League, backed YGG’s first subDAO for the Indian region (MPL).

IndiGG has already started purchasing assets in a variety of gaming genres that use the play-to-earn model, granting scholarships in games like Axie Infinity, Pegaxy, Nyan Heroes, WonderHero, CyBall, Fancy Birds, and Sipher, while trying to expand its roster of partners.

IndiGG has also revealed the date of its future initial exchange offering (IEO) on the FTX platform, which will be March 8, 2022. This launch will commemorate the IndiGG IEO, thanks to a combined effort by FTX, YGG, and Polygon. More information on how to participate may be found here.

IndiGG sponsored a Twitter Spaces event with YGG Co-founder Gabby Dizon to explore the possibilities that Web3 presents to the Indian market in order to promote the goal of an Indian subDAO of YGG.
