CyberKongz Integrates Chainlink VRF to Randomize In-Game Features on Polygon

Recent reports show that the majority of gamers prefer to play games online rather than locally. CyberKongz, a developer and publisher of virtual reality content for PC players looking to compete against others in their favorite titles, has now made it possible for VRF users to randomized features on Polygon with Chainlink’s decentralized oracle network.

CyberKongz is excited to announce that we have integrated Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on Polygon Mainnet in order to randomize in-game features in our upcoming adventure game “Play & Kollect”.

We now have access to a tamper-proof and auditable source of randomness required to provide randomized in-game elements in our future adventure game by integrating the industry-leading decentralized oracle network. On Ethereum, we’ll also integrate Chainlink Price Feeds, allowing us to provide correct NFT values on the CyberKongz website.

In order to randomize in-game features in our adventure game “Play & Kollect”, we need access to a secure random number generator (RNG) that any user could independently audit.

RNG solutions for smart contracts, on the other hand, need a number of security concerns in order to avoid manipulation and maintain system integrity. For example, miners/validators may abuse RNG solutions obtained from blockchain data like as block hashes, but off-chain RNG solutions produced from off-chain APIs are opaque and do not offer consumers with conclusive evidence of the process’ integrity.

Chainlink VRF was chosen because it is based on cutting-edge academic research, is backed by a tried-and-true oracle network, and is safeguarded by the creation and on-chain verification of cryptographic proofs that ensure the integrity of each random number sent to smart contracts.

Chainlink VRF generates both a random number and a cryptographic proof by mixing block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key. Only if the CyberKongz smart contract has a valid cryptographic proof will it accept the random number input, and the cryptographic proof can only be created if the VRF procedure is tamper-proof.

This gives our consumers automatic and verifiable guarantees that the CyberKongz game is provably fair and hasn’t been tampered with by the oracle, third parties, or the CyberKongz staff.
