Closeup and Decentraland Offer Web3 Marriages with NFT Certificates

Web3.0 is the new internet and NFTs are one of its many uses. Closeup and Decentraland offer a marriage between all things decentralized – identity, ownership, game items, etc., with cryptographic certificates to represent those instances.

“What is Decentraland?” is a question that many people have been asking. The answer to this question is “Decentraland is a virtual reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain.” This technology has allowed for marriage certificates to be created on the Ethereum blockchain. Closeup and Decentraland are offering Web3 marriages with NFT certificates. Read more in detail here: what is decentraland.

Closeup, Unilever’s dental care brand, has teamed up with Decentraland to launch the world’s first-ever ‘NFT Marriage Certificate.’ The novel idea, as its name implies, would enable any couple to be married on the metaverse platform, where a unique NFT will be created as a digital expression of their love for one another.

This April, Closeup will open the doors of its City Hall of Love in Decentraland, where couples may start their journey with a proposal before moving on to the ceremony, which will be led by a wedding officiant. Following the exchange of vows and the famous two words, the couple’s love will be immortalized on the blockchain via the issuance of an NFT Certificate of Marriage.

The happy pair will also be able to invite their friends and family’s metaverse avatars to the virtual celebration.

Although the NFT certificates will not be legally binding or carry any legal weight in any country’s jurisdiction, Closeup’s experience will be invaluable to many couples, particularly those in inter-racial, interfaith, same-sex, or any other relationship dynamic that is vulnerable to marriage rights discrimination.

Closeup’s foray into the Metaverse with Closeup City Hall of Love is another initiative to build safe spaces that celebrate equality and inclusion and inspire people to act on their mutual attraction, which its global brand Vice President Guarev Datta alluded to when speaking about the project: “Our foray into the Metaverse with Closeup City Hall of Love is another initiative to build safe spaces that celebrate equality and inclusion and inspire people to act on their mutual attraction.” It is devoid of self-doubt and judgment, allowing them to experience intimacy on their own terms.”
